Soul-rock outfit The Commonheart celebrated New Year’s Eve at Pittsburgh venue, Mr. Smalls Theatre. 2017 was a big year for the band, selling out their own headlining gigs, touring with JJ Grey & Mofro, and making festival appearances.

Kicking off the evening, DJ Selecta set the tone spinning beats with Brooklyn and Nashville based producer/musician Daru Jones on the drums. Next up was psychaedelic-rock quintet Cisco Kid, who delivered a strong set that featured special guests Randy Baumann on keys and vocalist Addi Twigg.

Ready to bring in the new year, The Commonheart took to the stage for their headlining performance, the crowd electric with anticipation. Frontman Clinton Clegg led the band through a very strong performance that kept the audience dancing into the new year.

The Commonheart aren’t showing any signs of slowing down in 2018. January will see the band touring the Midwest, with a bulk of the shows supporting JJ Grey & Mofro.
