Rob McCoury Taking Sabbatical From The Travelin’ McCourys
World-class banjo picker Rob McCoury will be taking a sabbatical from his gig with the Travelin’ McCourys for several of the band’s upcoming dates. The youngest son of bluegrass icon Del McCoury, Rob will be participating in a pilot program partially funded by String Cheese Incident’s Billy Nershi, on the Polynesian influence on progressive string music. In his place, the band has tapped longtime friend Andy Thorn of Leftover Salmon, who will join the band for dates at the Georgia Theatre, Charleston Pour House, and New Mountain AVL.
