Theremin Virtuoso Carolina Eyck Heading To The US For Short Tour
German-born composer and theremin virtuoso Carolina Eyck is coming to the United States for a short run of workshops and performances this month.
Eyck, who began learning to play the theremin at age seven, has shared the stage with numerous orchestras and chamber musicians around the world. The unique instrument she plays was created by Soviet inventor Leon Theremin in the 1920’s and is played by the thereminist moving the position of their hands relative to two antennas which respectively control frequency and amplitude. Watch the video below and see first hand how the theremin works, and enjoy Eyck’s beautiful cover of The Beatles “Norwegian Wood.”
